[edit] Issues Resolved

[edit] Config Utility Issues

Fix Config Utility IssuesLink

If the config tool fails to launch with a "Can't find Steam" error message, simply restarting Steam should fix that.

If the issue persists or the config tool freezes at one point while gathering system information on your first launch, try the following;

  1. Locate the JadeEmpireConfig file in the game's Steam directory (usually found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jade Empire)
  2. Right click, select properties, select compatibility and set it to compatibility mode for Windows Vista SP2.

If this fails to fix the freeze, you must do the following;

  1. Using notepad, create a blank text file.
  2. Name it SystemInformation.xml and save it in the data folder inside the Jade Empire folder (usually found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jade Empire\data).
  3. Copy the Steam.dll file from the base Steam folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam) and paste it into the Jade Empire folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jade Empire - NOT the data folder).
Information This will effectively bypass the config tool which should allow you to launch the game.

[edit] Stuttering Graphics

Occasionally, the graphics in the game will appear to 'stutter', despite having a high framerate. This can occur no matter what the system spec (including OS) of the PC running the game. No worries though; restarting the computer will solve this one.
