The Fighting Stick Mini 3 is the first model to be released and is compatible with the PlayStation 3 console. It is followed by the Fighting Stick Mini 4 on November 1, 2015, which added PlayStation 4 support and the first model to have Hori's new joystick. The Switch-compatible Fighting Stick Mini for Nintendo Switch was released on April 30, 2019. In Japan, there are two versions of the Fighting Stick Mini 4: One bearing the SKU number PS4-043 without XInput support, and one bearing the SKU number PS4-091 with XInput support. The PS4-091 model wasn't made available outside of Asia region, but a firmware update was made available for the PS4-043 model (PS4-043U in the US) to enable XInput support on PC. The refreshed PlayStation-compatible model, now with the PS5 Mode, was released on January 24, 2024.
The Fighting Fighting Mini 3 is a generic DirectInput device, meaning that it requires a third-party wrapper like Steam Input to be used on games that only use the XInput API. The Fighting Stick Mini 4 was originally a generic DirectInput device, but a later firmware update turn it into a native XInput device. The Fighting Stick Mini for Nintendo Switch is a native XInput device.
