Essential improvements
Improve the readability of the in-game text
- The stock fonts used by the game are narrow and difficult to read.
- The Japanese font, however, has characters that are easier to read and resembles the font used in the PlayStation Portable remake of the Final Fantasy I & II, as well as Final Fantasy XIII.
Instructions[1][2]
|
- Browse to the local files of your Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster installation.
- Navigate to <path-to-game>\Final Fantasy_Data\Streaming Assets to find the font files.
- Delete
font_en.bundle and font_en.manifest .
- Rename the
ja part in the font_ja.bundle and font_ja.manifest files with en .
- For non-English languages, repeat Step 4 for the other localizations (e.g.
es : Spanish, fr : French, de : German).

Fix scrolling stutter
- While walking around the world, there is some stutter as the screen scrolls.
- This is because the default movement speed in the pixel remasters is 80px/s, which doesn't align with the framerate of the game.
- This may also be resolvable using UnCapFF5PRemaster to set a target framerate to a multiple of 80 to better match, rather than modifying movement speed.
ffpr-tool allows you to adjust the movement speed, either down to 60px/s to match the framerate and the SNES original's speed, or up to 120px/s which is a clean double of the target framerate.
Instructions
|
- Browse to the local files of your Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster installation.
- Copy the ffpr-tool-ff5-ff6.exe into the directory.
- Run the application, and use the arrow keys to select your targeted speed.
