Key points
- The wireless version's invididual Buzzers do not consider Windows to be a valid connection by default and will instantly turn off again. A fix for this is listed further below on this page.
- The wired version's 4 controller wires are prone to getting tangled up in each other.
- The individual wireless Buzzers use 2x AA batteries.
General information
Inputs
- The four Buzzers, which have only 5 buttons each and no directional input, are counted as one 20-button DirectInput/SDI controller by Windows.
Use with PC platforms
Windows/Linux
Supported on Windows by the HidUsb driver, and on Linux by the hid-sony package.[1] Versatility in games is limited due to the button configuration with 5 buttons in a vertical line; some potential can be seen in games that only use e.g. up/down steering, jumping, menus, or similar.
Emulators
Native support (without plugins) was added to PCSX2 nightly versions in mid-December 2022, although only the wired version is registered automatically. The wireless version requires the SimpleHIDWrite fix below as of late December 2022.[2]
Hackable support was added to RPCS3 in Q2 2022, though it is believed to require the use of a custom driver that is incompatible with PCSX2 or native PC games.[3]
Issues fixed
Windows does not register any button presses from wireless Buzzers
Use SimpleHIDWrite to tell the Buzzers to turn on[4] |

|
It is unclear whether individual wireless Buzzers are synced with the USB receiver
Ensure that all 4 Buzzers' bottom blue lights shine solid, then press the receiver's sync button[5] |
---|
|
The Power/Lock slider and some of the buttons feel sticky and hard to press
Use anti-friction spray on the affected sliders and buttons[6] |
