Hey, I'm wondering what the policy is for providing information for how to access private servers on MMO's (and perhaps other online games) which no longer have official servers? I'm not expert, but I'm pretty sure these servers are a legally grey area since the server software is usually copyrighted. But we would be essentially be providing people with information on how to play a game that they would ordinarily not be able to, which goes along with the aim of providing fixes and things for PC games.

Private servers on MMOs are always being pursued by the original IP owners, for example WoW servers and even things like AlterIW for Call of Duty.

I'm happy to post up links to communities, but we should draw the line at actually providing step by step guides to altering a game to play on non-sanctioned servers. What do you think?

I with andy on this, Links to the communities that have info on how to join custom servers is fine, but step by step... too much to keep up to date
