[edit] Version Differences

[edit] Digital Distribution

Steam and Origin versions of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning are very similar.

[edit] Steam
  • Steam uses Steam Cloud for save data syncing.
  • Achievements are through Steam.
[edit] Origin
  • Origin uses its own save data syncing service.
  • Achievements are in-game.

[edit] Digital Rights Management (DRM)

Kingdoms of Amalur:Reckoning does not use additional DRM in any version.

[edit] Issues and Fixes

[edit] Remap key bug

Mouse button binding causes problems.

[edit] Map movement to arrow keys

Follow instructions here.

[edit] Demo

The demo of Kingdoms of Amalur is reportedly buggy and not indicative of the quality of the released game.

  • The largest bug in the demo is black screen during game play on ATI cards. The UI and game sounds will render, but the rest of the game will not.
    • This can be fixed by turning off Post Processing in the graphics options.
    • To play with Post Processing you can also force 2X Anti-Aliasing in Catalyst Control Center.

[edit] Graphical Tweaks

[edit] Field of Vision (FOV) Fix

FOV fix is available using the utility Widescreen Fixer and a plugin.

[edit] Adjust Level of Detail for Better Graphics Tradeoff

Using graphics tools (ATI Tray Tools or nHancer) to force a negative level of detail and high quality x16 anisotropic filtering may be a better graphics tradeoff.

[edit] FXAA Injector Adds Detail

The FXAA injector, initially designed for Skyrim but compatible with DirectX 9 games. Adds significant amount of detail to the game. Available at:

[edit] Multimonitor Support

Not well supported.

[edit] Borderless Fullscreen Windowed

Borderless fullscreen windowed mode is natively supported. Set resolution to monitors native resolution, and check "Fullscreen: off" in options. This provides borderless fullscreen windowed mode, allowing seamless Alt+tab and multitasking.

[edit] Save Game Data

[edit] Folder Location

Steam version save game location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\*your number here*\102500\remote\

[edit] Cloud Support

  • Origin: Cloud saving can be activated by navigating to the game's information page and clicking the cloud symbol below the game cover.
  • Steam: Steam cloud is natively supported by the Steam version of this game, which will sync save game data.

[edit] Save Game Transfer

Game profile names need to be identically named when transferring saves to different accounts or computers. If they are not, then you will need to rename the save file into one that has been 'recognised' by the game. This applies to transferring save data in any combination between computers, profiles, Steam and Origin accounts.

[edit] Improvements

[edit] Skip Introduction Logo Videos

The Big Huge Games/38 Studios/EA intro can be skipped by deleting or renaming reckoninglogotrain.bik under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning\content\data\bink
